Lianshan Electric Drive Improves Range, Space, and Reliability
In 2021, Li Auto began planning a new-generation electric drive platform, with R&D covering system design, motors, electronic control, materials, chips, algorithms, and manufacturing. To date, Li Auto has successfully self-developed a five-in-one electric drive system and a silicon carbide high-voltage three-in-one electric drive system. In early 2026, the Li i8 and its powertrain appeared on the cover of the annual first issue of MTZ, a leading German journal in the automotive powertrain field — the first time a Chinese automaker's electric drive system has appeared on the magazine's cover.
In terms of efficiency and range, Li Auto reduces electric drive energy consumption through material and structural innovation. The new-generation auxiliary drive motor, using the self-developed CAR119 cast aluminum rotor material, can increase the urban pure electric range of the all-new Li L9 and L8 by more than 15 kilometers, and improve highway range by more than 8 kilometers. The self-developed distributed terminal-free direct connection technology shortens the current path, increasing the range of the new-generation electric drive by approximately 30 kilometers and freeing up 24 millimeters of vehicle height space.
In terms of reliability, Li Auto has established a full-process quality assurance system covering design, manufacturing, and vehicle operation. Since mass production began a year ago, the self-developed power chips have accumulated 4 million units installed, maintaining a zero-failure record; every electric drive must pass 93 quality gates before leaving the production line, with inspection records kept for 15 years. At the same time, Li Auto has analyzed electric drive operation data from 230,000 delivered vehicles, covering more than 100 million hours in total, to identify and troubleshoot potential issues. In the future, Li Auto will also apply new-generation silicon carbide chips and 3D power packaging technology to further improve electric drive efficiency and power performance.

Li Auto's Ultra-Fast Charging Network Makes Charging Faster, More Convenient, and More Reassuring
To truly translate the fast-charging capability of 5C batteries into user experience, Li Auto began building its ultra-fast charging network in April 2023. It has now built 4,200 ultra-fast charging stations and more than 23,000 ultra-fast charging piles, covering 25 national-level expressway trunk lines with a "12 vertical and 13 horizontal" skeleton and 138 long-distance charging scenic routes. Li Auto plans to achieve an average of one Li Auto ultra-fast charging station every 100 kilometers on national expressway trunk lines by the end of 2026.
In terms of charging experience, Li Auto improves charging efficiency and low-temperature performance through vehicle, pile, and cloud collaboration. Vehicles can automatically plan ultra-fast charging stations along the route based on the destination, and charging can start in as fast as 13 seconds after plugging in. Models supporting 5C ultra-fast charging can achieve "500 kilometers of range in 10 minutes of charging" under applicable conditions and support password-free payment. The equipment availability rate of Li Auto ultra-fast charging piles exceeds 99.9%. The system can preheat the battery in advance based on low-temperature travel needs, and users can also remotely start battery preheating via their phones; during charging, the system also monitors battery status in sync. Currently, more than 95% of highway ultra-fast charging stations are located within service areas, and more than 99.8% of Li Auto ultra-fast charging sites nationwide support free parking for users during charging.
In the future, Li Auto will continue to expand its ultra-fast charging network and upgrade the charging experience. Li Auto plans to increase the number of 5C ultra-fast charging guns to 8,300 before the 2027 Spring Festival, launch "Li Auto 5C Priority Parking Spaces" in the fourth quarter of 2026, and roll out more than ten core functions, including a map travel agent, through two major OTA versions in the future. At the same time, Li Auto is advancing the construction of Li Auto ultra-fast charging scenic routes, including National Highways G219 and G331, and exploring fully automatic ultra-fast charging across all parking spaces, allowing users to complete charging without getting out of the car or manually plugging in or unplugging the charging gun.
